Mines View Park

Mines View Park is usually the next stop right after The Mansion and Wright Park as it is a short 5 minute drive away. Back in the early parts of the 20th century, Baguio City was an American mining town and this is something that is still evident today, especially in Mines View Park. The best spot to view the mines is the observation deck. To reach this area from the main road you’ll have to take a short trek and descend along a stone stairway path. This path may get a bit slippery when it rains so walk on down with caution. From observation deck, located on a ridge, you will be able to see Benguet’s gold and copper mines, as well as the Ambuyaran Valley and Cordillera Mountains. The best time to visit would in the morning as on certain times of the year it does get foggy which totally obstructs your view.

This is a park that draws tourists, not only for the breath taking the views which is a spectacular sight to behold, but also for the souvenirs that can be purchased. The souvenir stores sell varied handmade wooden handicrafts, knitted bonnets, sweaters, scarves and food items like strawberry, ube jam and peanut brittle. There are also plenty of silverworks stores that sell rings, necklaces, pendants and other silver jewelries at reasonable prices. You will see that if you want to do something really tourist-like while you are in the park, you will be able to get dressed up in full Cordillera uniform. This means a bahag, shield and spear for the men and tapis for the women and both will be given a headdress and a vest to wear
